- Lithospermum erythrorhizon
- 花は白色で小さく、名前は「群ら咲き」から出ている。野生品は現在絶滅危惧種。根は布を高貴な色である紫色の染料だけでなく、紫根（しこん）と呼ばれる生薬。やけどや痔疾に使われる紫雲膏の主成分。 [原産]?? 出典: 毒と薬の世界史 舟山信次 中公新書(2008)

- ムラサキ科 ミヤマホタルカズラ gentian blue gromwell 常緑低木だが、園芸上は多年草として扱う。茎は匍匐し、木質化する。初夏に枝先の葉腋に、濃碧色の花をつける。

- ムラサキ科 ムラサキ lithospermum 多年草。根は太く長い直根で、紫色で繊維質。古くから薬用と染色に用いられた。

- ムラサキ科 セイヨウムラサキ common gromwell; European stoneseed 多年草。葉は互生し卵形～披針形で鋸歯はない。花はらせん花序につき、貴系・クリーム系・緑系の白色で、小さな5弁花。
