Recommendations
- Be as lean as possible within the normal range1 of body weight.
- Be physically active as part of everyday life (for at least 30 min).
- Limit consumption of energy-dense foods (e.g. fast foods). Avoid sugary drinks.
- Eat mostly foods of plant origin (veggies and fruits 400g / day).
- Limit intake of red meat and avoid processed meat (max 500g / week).
- Limit alcoholic drinks (max 2 drinks / day).
- Limit consumption of salt. Avoid mouldy cereals (grains) or pulses (legumes).
- Aim to meet nutritional needs through diet alone (no supplements).
- Mothers to breastfeed; children to be breastfed (exclusively for 6 months).
- For cancer survivors, follow the recommendations for cancer prevention.
