In the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group II (APG-II) system, Asclepiadaceae is merged to Apocynaceae.
- 生薬のコンズランゴはコンズランゴ(Marsdenia cundurango Reichenbach fil．)の樹皮である。
南アメリカ西北部山地に自生するつる性の木本。標高1000-2000mに分布。
属名の鬼女蘭(Marsdenia tomentosa)は関東以南の山地にも自生する。種子から出る白い綿毛を鬼女の白髪にたとえたもの。アサギマダラ(浅葱斑 Parantica sita)蝶の食草。
