キワタ科【属名】ボンバクス; キワタノキ属 cotton tree アジア・アフリカ・オーストラリアの熱帯に8種が分布する。

Bombax ceiba L.;Bombax malabaricum

キワタ科キワタノキ; インドキワタノキ; インドワタノキ; ニセパンヤ cotton tree; red kapok tree; red silk-cotton tree 赤い花は弁先が5裂し径10～12cmで多肉質。果実の中には黒い種子と、それを取り巻く軟毛(パンヤ)がある。
