Coffea arabica

6-9世紀にアフリカからアラビアに伝わり生豆の煮出し汁などを用いていたが、13世紀に焙煎が始まる。16世紀にトルコ、17世紀にヨーロッパに伝わり、日本には17世紀中頃伝来。ただし本格的な輸入は1858年の日米修好通商条約締結以降。 [原産]エチオピア 出典: 毒と薬の世界史 舟山信次 中公新書(2008)
